I think Leon Rose put Thibs in a tough spot by bringing in Bridges and then acquiring KAT just before the start of the season. Also, the structure of the contract with IH made it impossible to bring him back. No IH made it much harder to put together a top defensive scheme.
I was very surprised by Bridges' comment on the minutes load Thibs puts on his starters. Given what the Knicks gave up for him, a comment like that from Bridges seems like something the front office can't ignore.
I wouldn't have made those trades. The Knicks lost that grit and toughness with Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo. Yeah the Knicks got better talentwise and they won more than last year's team, but those wins tend to be skewed since so many teams tanked this year and in the NBA, you just don't win by talent only. There has to be certain toughness out there.
As for Mikal Bridges, he is shot in my opinion. His shooting yips have haunted him. He struggled badly in the fourth quarter in Game 2. I am not sure what the Knicks can expect out of him considering he has struggled shootingwise all season.
I picked the Pistons in 6 for a reason. The Knicks don't have that toughness to play with the Pistons, and it has showed in the first two games. It won't get any easier at Detroit.
